Maintenance in Schools

In Partnership with the National Alliance of School Premises Management (NASPM), Maintenance in Schools will discuss the pertinent topics affecting schools including, legal compliance and safe systems of work and the challenges of being a duty holder.

In addition, we turn attention to the problem that older school premises are tackling; that of damp and mould in buildings. At a time when the damaging effects of damp and mould are often reserved for social housing, the signs of damp conditions are now being spotted and reported in schools. So, what should your school be looking for; how can the problem be handled quickly and effectively and just as importantly, how should damp and mould treatment and prevention be integrated into a school's estates management plan?

Hosted by Stuart McGregor, Director of Operations NASPM, guests include Chris Coyle Operations Manager NASPM, Emily Clowry of Herfordshire County Council and David Bly from Cornerstone.

Topics discussed will include health, welfare and safety risks, surrounding air quality and ventilation and along with an overview of the core standards of a safe building, the experts take a closer look at specific duties and particularly those of the duty holder when it comes to managing damp and mould.
